A well-designed sticker can transform your brand. A poorly designed one can actively hurt it. Here are five common mistakes we see and how to avoid them.
1. Too much text
Stickers are visual, not informational. Keep text to a minimum — your brand name, a short tagline at most. If you need to communicate details, that is what your packaging or website is for.
2. Low resolution artwork
Blurry, pixelated stickers scream unprofessional. Always upload artwork at 300 DPI minimum. If your logo is only available as a small web image, ask your designer for a vector version.
3. Wrong material choice
A matte kraft sticker on a glossy black product looks out of place. Think about the surface your sticker will be applied to and choose a material and finish that complements it.
4. Ignoring the background
If your design has a white background on white vinyl, it will look like a white rectangle. Consider a coloured background, a border, or clear vinyl for a cleaner look.
5. Not ordering a proof
Colours on screen look different to colours in print. Always request a digital proof and check it carefully before approving.
